LEAGUE RULES

We are so excited to announce our next season of the Mahj Mafia League!

Teams will consist of 4-6 players each (exceptions may be made). Each team must select 1 captain who will be responsible for scheduling/scoring. Fun team names are highly encouraged!
Weekly matches will consist of 3 games (2 players from each team will participate in each game. It does not need to be the same two players for each game. EX. All team members are available to play week 1 ... you may all attend and alternate players). Extra players may also play for fun (no scores recorded).
Games are slated to take place each week. The home team captain must reach out to the captain of the team they are playing no later than the Saturday night before to schedule upcoming weekly play. Please try to be flexible between day vs evening play. We’d like everyone to have equal chances to play. All scores must be submitted prior to Friday at 12 PM (If you can’t find a common day/time, then both teams will forfeit (Remember only 2 members are needed). Scores will be submitted to MahjMafia@gmail.com by the HOME team captain by Friday at 12 PM (Please CC the opposing team’s captain on the email to ensure everyone is on the same page).
Home team may pick the location of play and will provide the tiles/mat/racks/dice/etc. Each player is to bring their own card (2026).
We will follow the NMJL rules. Should there be a rule discrepancy during play, please reach out to Laura Grabowy (215.260.4122) or Kelly Metz (480.356.2108) immediately. If a direct solution can’t be made, that game will need to start over.
Home team will begin as dealer and will rotate the next two games.
Jokers may NOT be passed during the Charleston.
Scoring: If the tile is drawn rather than called to complete Mahjong, the value of the line is doubled.
If NO jokers are used, the value is also doubled.
Communication during play may not give any type of tips/help to their teammate.

Weekly emails will be sent with scoring details and any updates.
Laura/Kelly will be competing, but must be on different teams.
Cost will be $100/Player (Paid directly by Team Captain)

Final Social Tournament Wednesday, December 9th
